Topic : Growing Deeper in His Presence - Abiding in the Secret Place 1
Text :
Psalm 91:1
"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty."
Reflection:
The Christian life is not meant to be lived from a distance. God has always desired close fellowship with His children and this was seen from the Garden of Eden, where He walked with Adam and Eve, to the New Testament, where Christ invites us to abide in Him. God's heart has always been relationship rather than mere religion.
Moses is one of the people that understood the value of God's presence. In Exodus 33:14, the Lord assured him, "My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest." Moses knew that success without God's presence was meaningless. That is why he later declared that if God's presence did not go with them, they should not move forward because od's presence was more valuable than the Promised Land itself.
Jesus also demonstrated this lifestyle. Although crowds constantly surrounded Him and many demands were placed upon Him, He intentionally withdrew to lonely places to pray (Luke 5:16). If the Son of God made time to be alone with the Father, how much more should we?
Abiding in God's presence also requires perseverance. There will be days when you feel encouraged and days when you do not. There will be seasons when God's presence feels overwhelming and seasons when He seems silent. Yet faith continues to seek Him, trusting that He is always near. Our relationship with God should never be based on feelings alone but on His unchanging promises.
Do not settle for occasional encounters with God when He is inviting you into a daily walk with Him. Make His presence your dwelling place, and you will discover that His peace, wisdom, strength, and guidance will become your daily experience.
Key Question :
Is my time with God occasional, or have I made His presence my daily dwelling place? What practical adjustments can I make to remain consistent?
Prayer:
Father, thank You for inviting me into Your presence. Let my heart continually long for your presence in Jesus name
