Topic : Living as Light in a Dark World - Understanding our identity as light
Text : Matthew 5:14-15 
"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house."

Reflection:
Jesus said in Matthew 5 vs 14-15 that a city on a hill cannot be hidden and that nobody lights a lamp and places it under a basket. The message is simple: light is meant to be seen.
God has not called us to hide our faith because we are afraid of being different. There will be situations where standing for what is right may make us unpopular, there may be moments when everyone around us is doing something we know is wrong.
Those moments reveal whether our light is truly shining.

Being a light does not mean being judgmental or acting as though we are better than everyone else. It means remaining faithful to God while treating people with love and humility.
For example, if your friends encourage you to do something you know is wrong, you may have to respectfully say no. If people around you are gossiping, you can refuse to participate. If dishonesty seems like the easiest option, you can choose integrity.
These choices may appear small, but they demonstrate that your values are not controlled by the crowd.

Your light may also shine through encouraging someone around you who is struggling silently, and a kind word or thoughtful action may remind them that they are not alone.
The goal is not to make people admire us. Jesus said our good works should cause people to glorify our Father in heaven.
So don't hide your light through fear, compromise, or the desire to fit in. Let Christ be visible in you.

Father, give me courage to live for You without compromise. Help me shine with humility and love wherever You have placed me in Jesus name

Reflection: Holiness is often misunderstood. Many people hear the word and think of strict rules, constant correction, or a list of “do’s and don’ts. Scripture reveals something far more relational. God does not call us to holiness to restrict us,He calls us to holiness to claim us. In Leviticus 20:26, God says, “You shall be holy unto Me.” Notice the direction of the holiness.
