Topic : Living as Light in a Dark World
Text: Ephesians 4:29-32
"Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."

Reflection:
Light is not only seen in what we do; it is also heard in what we say. Our words can reveal what is happening in our hearts, and they can either bring light into someone's life or add to their darkness.
Paul instructs believers to avoid words that corrupt or tear others down and instead speak what is “good to the use of edifying.” To edify means to build up, strengthen, encourage, or help someone grow.

This does not mean we should say only pleasant things. Sometimes love requires us to tell the truth or correct something that is wrong. But even correction can be given with wisdom, respect, and love.

As believers, we should learn to pause before speaking and ask: Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it helpful? Does it reflect Christ?

This is especially important when we are angry because anger can make us say things we later regret, and being a light does not mean we never become angry or frustrated; it means we learn not to allow those emotions to control our speech.

Your voice is a gift. Use it to bring truth without cruelty, correction without humiliation, and encouragement without flattery.

Reflection: Holiness is often misunderstood. Many people hear the word and think of strict rules, constant correction, or a list of “do’s and don’ts. Scripture reveals something far more relational. God does not call us to holiness to restrict us,He calls us to holiness to claim us. In Leviticus 20:26, God says, “You shall be holy unto Me.” Notice the direction of the holiness. Holiness is not about people, it is about belonging to God.
